EXPO /// SAT. 5 DECEMBER – SUN. 10 JANUARY
For more than thirty years, the biodiversity of the European countryside has deteriorated at an alarming rate 80% of insects have disappeared due to the expansion of the agricultural industry and the overuse of pesticides. As bugs disappear, so do birds. Europe’s bird population has thus fallen by almost 55% in recent decades. After recording the natural soundscapes of the Camargue Park in France over the course of 3 years, sound and electronic artist Marylou experienced a progressive reduction in its bird song. Interactive installation Electronic Garden is an artificial reincarnation of the park’s declined bird population, and invites visitors to become conductors of this fragile orchestra of lost singers.
Marylou’s Electronic Garden is sponsored by Cultuur Eindhoven and Tinytronics Eindhoven.
Keep an eye on the TAC Instagram page for live performances in the Electronic Garden. Each Friday night Marylou will play a requested pop song trough the bird soundscapes of her interactive installation in TAC.
