Special opening on 1 November
An exhibition created in collaboration with Philip Ross and TAC. The name ‘ex²po’ combines two words starting with ‘ex’: exhibition and exterior.
The street is transformed into a canvas, upon which visual art is created using light. These light drawings alter your perception of the street, while the street simultaneously influences how you experience the drawings.
Several TAC artists showcase their work through ex²po, continuously bringing new meaning to this everyday environment.
ON VIEW 6-18 dec: Contours
Contours is a project inspired by a month-long residency at Studio88 in Northern Thailand, where Diewke van den Heuvel witnessed the devastating effects of PM2.5 air pollution caused by burning agricultural fields. This practice, tied to monoculture farming of export crops like corn for Europe, harms the environment and local communities.
Through conversations with farmers and advocates, She explored the global connections between economic inequity, environmental degradation, and unsustainable farming. Contours challenges European consumers to recognize their role in these issues and advocates for systemic change and responsible consumption.
The project features collages inspired by Northern Thailand’s mountainous landscapes, symbolizing both the region’s beauty and the scars of exploitation. Layered with photographs and materials, the works reveal farmers’ struggles, ecological damage, and the impact of global demand. These pieces combine art and critical storytelling, urging viewers to rethink their relationship with distant lands and lives shaped by their choices.

22 Nov-4 dec:
Noctilucent Passage
Inspired by the rare phenomenon of night lighted clouds in the upper layers of the atmosphere, Gam Bodenhausen has transformed the Ventoselaan into a dream-like passageway. Originally her work is drawn with soft graphite pencils. For this installation she turned her drawings into white chalky lines that radiate bright light in the darkness. From beginning to end, the viewer is invited to move between the worlds of the known and unknown, between what can be articulated, and what we intrinsically feel.
18 oct-20 Nov: Overflow
Flow is central to the work of Gam Bodenhausen, Diewke van den Heuvel and Roos Vogels; three artists, exploring the ever-changing landscapes of their environment.
Overflow reflects the artist’s fluid engagement with encountered nature scenes, which transform, overlay, and reconstruct creating a unique interpretation of the original image. Engaging with the light installation, you will discover how Diewke, Gam, and Roos form a profound connection to the places they visit and create drawings, collages, and photographs.
Special event
You are all invited on Friday evening 1 November at 19:00
At Ventoselaan (next to our former TAC building)
Featuring a performance by Vitoria Aquino, followed by drinks at our very own pop-up bar!
Vitoria Aquino is a Brazilian performing artist based in the Netherlands. After her studies in dance theatre, she delved into movement performance in public spaces during her master’s studies at FHK Tilburg. Since then, she has collaborated as a dancer and performer in various interdisciplinary projects.
Vitoria draws inspiration from shapes, textures, and the dramaturgy that emerges in urban and natural public spaces. For ex2po she will explore movement perspectives in connection with the light installations, their stories, and TAC.
GAM BODENHAUSEN
Gam’s work consist of meter-sized drawings and also smaller series. The dizzying density of matter fascinates her. Every time she zoom’s in on a piece of reality – a rock, tree, animal or skin – a new world is created. With graphite Gam creates landscapes, composed of dark and light surfaces, in which abstract and figurative elements come together and are continually rearranged. Her drawings are often a search for the ways in which a landscape is experienced and can be observed: historically, geologically, and autobiographically.
Gam Bodenhausen (Geldrop 1973) is a visual artist from The Netherlands. She studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and then completed her Masters degree at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Her work is included in public and private collections and has been exhibited in galeries, museums and art spaces in her home country and abroad. Currently Gam’s work is shown at the exhibition: Delinking and Relinking in the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven.
ROOS VOGELS
Ever since Roos Vogels graduated from St. Joost (Den Bosch), she has literally taken parts of nature into her studio – from tree trunks and leaves to twigs. That serves as inspiration, but also to apply those materials in her artworks that try to depict that wonder. Sometimes these are installations, sometimes drawings, sometimes films. And always and everywhere nature plays the leading role.
Nature is also the guiding principle for ex²po at the Temporary Art Centre. This time, she has drawn inspiration from her Artist in Residence in Norway, autumn 2023. The rugged surroundings by the fjord, with its seemingly indestructible mountains, the countless grey tones of the landscape, the babbling rivers—for this project, they have been transformed into collages in which the organic predominates.
Here, she pairs waterfalls with mountains, a circular organism is paired with a strictly geometric cloudscape, and, again, water. Here figuration and abstraction alternate; playing a delicate game of attraction and repulsion. Just like in nature.
DIEWKE VAN DEN HEUVEL
The world of Diewke van den Heuvel, where art transcends boundaries and mediums intertwine to create profound experiences. Diewke is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans photography, collage, installation, sound, and clay. Her art is a testament to the power of blending diverse materials and techniques to explore themes of identity, memory, mourn and the enormous beauty and logic of nature.
For ex²po Diewke combines her work from Melting Heart Connected into collages. She brings together disparate elements to create new narratives and perspectives. Each piece is a journey through layers of texture and meaning, inviting viewers to look closely and uncover the stories within.
At its core, Melting Heart Connected is an exploration of the emotional and spiritual bonds we share with the natural world. It delves into the intricate web of life, illustrating how our actions, no matter how small, reverberate through the environment. The project aims to awaken a sense of empathy and responsibility towards nature, highlighting the symbiotic relationship that is often overlooked in our modern, fast-paced lives.
